What if your marriage was like this?

It’s a topic that a lot of people discuss, and dream about. It’s a day when two people become one.

My whole life I’ve had some idea of how I want my wedding to be, how I picture my marriage and my life after the wedding to be. My Dream is to marry the man sitting next to me, in a church, In a beautiful white wedding gown. All I know is I want to marry the man next to be, have kids, and spend the rest of my life with him. But, have you ever thought of how marriages go in other country’s, or cultures? I know I never did until I listened to a 360 documentary on a podcast.

The topic at hand is a walking marriage.

“The walking marriage widely adopted by the Mosuo people of China is a unique marriage custom that is deeply related to its social and cultural traditions of the matrilineal family system. In a walking marriage, the couples do not marry to each other and both stay in their own matrilineal family for their whole life. The marriage and propagation of offspring is realized through “walking” by male. The women open their doors to their lovers every evening, and the men walk home to work in their mother’s household every morning. Neither of them is a member of each other’s family. The woman and man in this relationship call each other A-xia, which means lovers in the sense of husband and wife.

An ancient ceremony called “Cang Ba La” is held for the walking marriage of Mosuo people, which means worshiping the Kitchen God Bodhisattva and ancestors. The ceremony is held in the bride’s house, often at midnight, without feasting, receiving gifts or attendance of friends. The bridegroom’s family should invite a voucher to bring the proposing man to the woman’s home. Then the man should introduce himself to the woman’s mother and uncles and obtain acknowledgement. He needs to send reasonable gifts to the family, with one for each elder and junior. After that, the man should bow down to the Kitchen God, ancestors and elders of the family and receive the blessings from the elders and sisters. The A-xia should dress up all over according to Mosuo customs, while the man will receive the characteristic colorful Mosuo linen belt meticulously knitted by the woman. When the voucher finishes clarification of certain issues to A-xia’s mother and uncles, the relationship between the man and woman will be open.

The Mosuo people in a walking marriage maintain their marriage only by their affection without involving in material or interest factors. Today, over 90% of Mosuo people still perform the walking marriage.”

Now, Would any of you enjoy that type of a marriage?

I know I wouldn’t. But the whole point of this, is did any of you know of different types of marriages besides U.S. traditional one?

Again I didn’t.

Power to knowledge! LOL

Actor’s losing or gaining weight for movies

Growing up, being female, body image has been a big issue.

All you see is super models being skinny, and its not always fit, famous people being skinny. All these people being the definition of “Beautiful”, but its not my definition, get a lot of publicity. Little girls, and even boys, think this is how they need to be/ look. In my opinion its wrong. I you need to be is healthy for you, and no one else. Being skinny doesn’t necessarily make you a healthy person.

So, A topic that is necessarily new, but its getting noticed a lot more, is people losing or gaining weight for movies. This can have consequences for a persons body. Now not all of these cases are bad, but I think that this process is unnecessary and I personally don’t think it should be happening.

The first person that I think is the most dramatic, the person that really got me interested in this topic, is Matthew Mcconaughey.

He is a normally buff guy, I mean just watch magic mike, but he lost a dramatic 30 pounds to play an AIDS patient in the “Dallas buyers club”.  As seen in the middle picture he has sunken cheeks, and lackluster complexion. The last picture is where he is at now, almost back at 165 pounds. He has stated he has had less energy and he explained everything that happened.

“Your organs [and] muscles shrink, your organs shrink [and] my stomach has shrunk as well,” he explained. Why would you want to do this for a movie? Why do we allow it? I also understand if he didn’t do it someone else would, but that shouldn’t make it acceptable.

The next person is Anne Hathaway.

She lost weight and chopped off her hair for her role in “Les Miserables”, to portray a starving factory worker who is forced into prostitution for the sake of her child. She did lose the weight under supervision, but the medics insisted that her diet was “not fun, and should not be copied”. She lost the first 10 pounds through a three week period by detox, then lost 15 more pounds by food deprivation and exercise.

The next person is 50 cent.

He lost 60 pounds to play a football player who has been diagnosed with cancer. He normally weights 214, like the picture on the right, and on the left he weights 160. He lost the weight by being on a liquid diet, and 3 hours a day on the treadmill for nine weeks. He even stated “I was starving”.

Next, is Dennis Quad.

He gained 35 pounds to play Bill Clinton. He states that he could have just worn a suit to make him look bigger, but didn’t want to. He went to McDonald’s every day. So instead of “Faking” weight gain, he filled his body with crap.

Next, is Natalie Portman.

She lost 20 pounds for the role in black swan. She lost this weight by eating small amounts of food that would metabolize really quick, and exercising for a full year before the movie even started. Her costar Mila Kunis also lost weight for the movie.

Ok, so I think you get the point. I seems like all the famous people are doing this to get roles and get even more famous.

But, what wrong with this:

12 - Positive body image (from Michelbritney00.blogspot.com) (1)

A picture of healthy woman, all different sizes, and shapes, all healthy and not starving of gaining weight to get noticed.

Tyra Banks always seems to say the best things about weight, and I enjoy how she looks for plus size models:

And then, Jennifer Lawrence is the best:

The untouchables

“The first image refers to pedophilia in the Vatican. Second child sexual abuse in tourism in Thailand, and the third refers to the war in Syria. The fourth image refers to the trafficking of organs on the black market, where most of the victims are children from poor countries; fifth refers to weapons free in the U.S.. And finally, the sixth image refers to obesity, blaming the big fast food companies.
The new series produced by Cuban artist Erik Ravelo was titled as “The untouchables”, are photographs of children crucified for his supposed oppressors, each for a different reason and a clear message, seeks to reaffirm the right of children to be protected and report abuse suffered by them especially in countries such as Brazil, Syria, Thailand, United States and Japan”

A black and white life (fiction)

This the house I was raised in…I know not much, but it was enough for me. This house was built on love. My parents built this house from the bottom up, this house was built on love. When my parents passed away the house was left to me. There love story made me want to have a love story like theirs. And I had one.

This house was built on love, and the love story in this house continued even when they passed away, with me and tony. This house was my everything, my home, where I could be me. The best of times in this house was with me and my parents. Then, once I met tony I new this house was where I would always belong.

Music. Its my life. Now, I cant even play. It was when I was playing my music when the storm came. Me and tony ran to the cellar, but we didn’t make it in time. How I survived I couldn’t even explain, because I question why I’m still here when my love didn’t make it.

This is what is left. A damaged home, and me.

Just me, alone, scared, wonder why I’m still here.
